Dubya Opens Up (GWB: "That's just the way it goes! ")

President George W. Bush is leaving with one of the lowest approval ratings in the history of numbers. During his final months on the job, the controversial commander-in-chief has given several interviews that have revealed how he views his legacy. Here are some highlights...

Soul not for sale One of the president's most interesting sound bites came during his interview with FOX News. He said: "I didn't compromise my soul to be a popular guy." The quote is an acknowledgment that the president is well aware that he's about as popular as taxes and chicken pox. Bush went on to say that he would have liked to have been more popular, but he's proud that he didn't sacrifice his integrity. And that includes Detroit's bailout

What Bush regrets During a rather candid interview several weeks ago, folks heard something truly surprising from the president—an admission that he was wrong. Bush said that his "biggest regret" was that he and his team got the intelligence wrong in Iraq.

What he'll be thinking on his last day Anyone who has ever changed jobs knows that the mix of emotions can be quite strong. It's no different for presidents. Chief among Bush's thoughts before entering what he jokingly referred to as "forced retirement" will be well wishes for President-elect Barack Obama. Said Mr. Bush: "I'll be wishing President-elect Obama all the best, genuinely be wishing him all the best."

"More border (southern border) fencing and border patrol now than ever before."

Wow, that's quite reassuring. So now what do we do with the 15 million illegal invaders who've waltzed through the border unfettered because Bush ordered NOTHING NADA ZILCH done after 9/11?? He's demonstrated MORE loyalty to Vicente Fox than to our own.

Btw, WHAT "border patrol" and what fence?? The SOBs are tossing rocks at our undermanned border and laughing while our guys are ordered to point their guns but NOT fire them. Nice deterent. Maybe I'll write Compean and Ramos in jail and ask them about that beefed up BP and sieve, aka the Phantom Fence.

And you say MY "worldview" is comical??

"The surest way to destroy capitalism is to pass laws against it, and I don’t recall Bush passing any such laws. Perhaps you have some examples?"

We can frame the debate in the context of Bush spending taxpayer money as though the printing presses were churning out dollars 24/7 with no regard as to future reimbursement.

Unfortunately "capitalism" has been seriously compromised by George W. Bush's marriage to socialist policies during bhis eight years, highlighted by the $1 trillion bill for the unnecessary War in Iraq, the bill for 25,000,000 Illegal Invaders he's encouraged instead of addressing head on, and emphatically green-lighting the almost 1/2 trillion wasted and written off for Community Reinvestment Act.

"from FR thread: Bush says sacrificed free-market principles to save economy"

Great link; Bush with his own words indicted himself in that case at around the same time he also admitted the intel "evidence" regarding the "threat" of Saddam Hussein was BS.

RE I just find the lame-duck bashing humorous.

Very simple . We held back before as to NOT be accused of helping the other side win against him(which the Bush-bots do anyway) but now he has had his 8 year chance so it is time to judge. Bush was the center of Pelosi 4 year strategy and he played the part perfectly, worked like A charm.

>>>>But if there are no attacks under Obama, then your last thread to him is cut.<<<<<

You misunderstand my comment.

I have no threads to GWB. I gave up on him when he started hammering on immigration Amnesties immediately before 9/11.

Then he was briefly redeemed for a couple years, and then he resumed his original course.

Nope. Not a big fan.

"Please stop copying my lines and putting them in italics and responding to each one. It does not help your argument and is really annoying."

Uuhh, ok.

"Carter and his ilk (Clinton included) bolstered the Islamofascists that Bush had to fight against to defend us. If you can't see that, there's no helping you."

What am I supposed to "see," Ghost? I "saw" 15 of 19 terrorists on 9/11 were Saudi, yet Saudi Arabia wasn't on the 'Axis of Evil' list, nor were they bombed - even though the Saudis have CLEARLY financed terrorism. I see Dubya Bush handing out "Student Visas to thousands upon thousands of Saudi Islamists. I see an ENTIRE Middle East of hostile Muslim countries that weren't touched. I DID see a Wag-the-Dog situation.

Btw, just what "mission" was accomplished?? And since when is America a 'Nation Builder'?? Finally how was the invasion and occupation of Muslim Iraq EVER supposed to wind up as "Mission Accomplished" WITHOUT a plan to deal with the aftermath??

P.S. - I am a Conservative first and foremost and THAT is my perspective: Principle before Party.

Perfect analysis by you, well written. I was once a believer but no more. The Bush-bots here won’t even admit that it was key to stay in tune with public over war.., if he couldnt win war at home then he should have stayed the h.. out of iraq. MSM my a..., I guess the UAW bailout by GWB was there fault too.

Sorry about that, when you said “period” I thought you meant “nothing else matters”. He’s a bit polarizing being our outgoing leader.

>>>>>I hear that over and over again.<<<<

Clearly I wrote my comment the wrong way.

What I meant is that domestic security against jihadists is about the ONLY good thing he’s done.

I can’t even enumerate my multiple disappointments with GWB.

"Actually, panaxanx, F16Fighter lies like a leftist about President Bush. I've got to eat dinner, but hopefully I'll be back tonight. The agit-prop is thick on this thread."

Lol, a "Leftist"?? You're hysterical. After you've dined, Kristinn (and stay away from the raw Japanese blowfish), perhaps you can point out those "lies." can't wait to check out the lipstick on that pig.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I should have caught that.

What I meant was “Period” as in “And that’s about all he’s done, period.”

"He (F16Fighter) must be part of the 78% of the American people (me included) that didn’t think Bush did a good job as President."

As true as that is, it's an understatement.

Dubya Bush has not only done a terrible job, but he's been so very inept a RINO-fied globalist that he's set the table for a racist-Marxist charlatan to become President. Of course we should take into consideration that he IS just a mere puppet and tool of the globalists.

QUESTION: Can ANYONE explain this relationship??:

Either way, the Bush family will still be eating lobster and living in “compounds” 100 years from now, so what does he have to be worried about? Man of the people my a**

and that’s the bottom line....
