Readers have choice words (pro and con) on Prop. 8 (Reporter called bigot)
http://www.latimes.com ^ | December 17, 2008 | Steve Lopez

Posted on 12/19/2008 8:01:55 PM PST by Maelstorm

When you write a column for a living, you get called lots of names on a regular basis. Moron, liar and sellout, to name a few.

I'm in no position to complain, though, since I occasionally use the same words to describe public officials and captains of industry.

But I've never been called a bigot so many times as I have since I wrote in my Sunday column about the boycott of El Coyote, the Los Angeles cantina whose Mormon manager donated $100 to Proposition 8, the successful November ballot initiative to ban gay marriage.

"Your article defending" the manager "is making the rounds on gay boards, which means that you're becoming notorious for your bigotry," wrote someone named Laight.

"You should be ashamed of yourself," wrote Amy.

About two-thirds of the roughly 400 readers who sent e-mails took similar positions. They said I was too sympathetic to Margie Christoffersen in writing about how business at her mother's margarita mill is way down, thanks in part to an organized boycott, and how Christoffersen is so distraught she has taken a leave of absence.

"Oh, poor Margie," was a popular line among angry readers, as was, "Cry me a river."

They attack anyone who doesn’t tow the line. It isn’t about tolerance it is about forcing their lifestyle on everyone, in the schools, in the church, on the tv, peddling a sanitized version of homosexuality that doesn’t exist outside of Will and Grace. Why don’t they just get over themselves? We don’t want out world and society redefined to make them feel special.

I was in LA last week and made sure to have lunch at El Coyote. The food was quite good—I think it’s even better than El Tepeyac in Boyle Heights.

If I lived in California, I would be proud to patronize El Coyote, protesters or no. It would be soooo much fun!

Great place, good food, and famous as the restaurant where Sharon Tate had her last meal. They’ve part of the old Hollywood. The TV City gang were regulars.

If my more devout friends are forced to surrender the word “marriage”, will the Gay Community return the hurtful slangs for GAY back to common usage?

Whether They do, or don't; the theft of the word Marriage will have repercussions. The list of Words that are not condoned at our Dinner Table, our under our roof, will get shorter. When any group preempts, or forcibly redefines, a single Word; the Rules under this roof go the OTHER WAY. Our Guests will no longer need to be quoting others to use words like "queer", "fag", "fruit", etc.

They also take great joy in ganging up on those least able to defend themselves. Real sick mentality there...

This is funny. Even though this guy was against prop 8, he was not pure enough for the gay fascists and they have turned on him. Get the Vaseline, Lopez.

This guy Lopez used to write for one of the socialist toilet tissues here in Philly. The Daily News, I think. He’s a good, street-wise writer and he wrote interesting columns even if they often had a Democrat stench to them. It’s a little surprising to me that on this issue Steve failed to connect the dots.

Prop 8 was the predictable response to the militant homosexual activists who resorted to using the heavy-handed (and rather lowbrow) tactic of trying to hijack and redefine the English word, “marriage”, simply because they had a childish desire to poke normal, traditional Americans in the eye.

Homosexuals were not satisfied to mind their own business and graciously accept the “civil union” as a gift from liberal state legislatures. No, they required an ongoing “culture war” to feed their sociopathic martyrdom complex and the “civil union” language didn’t quite cause the uproar and the outrage they had hoped for. To their surprise and dismay, most normal people shrugged off “civil unions”. As a result the homosexual activists had to find a new way to try to get under the skin of those contemptible “breeders”...

Ahh...! Let’s demand “civil union” be called “marriage”. That’ll make ‘em put up their dukes!

Personally, I never gave a rat’s behind what sodomites do to each other in the privacy of their own hot tubs, but now I want them to lose on every issue that is of any importance to them because it was they, not I, who declared war. To hell with them all.

Ironically, Steven Lopez is a gay-friendly Lefty. But his deviation from the Gaystapo party line was enough to set off a venomous outburst against him. The Left considers you an enemy if you cross them. Once is all it takes to get placed on their blacklist.

The personality factors that lead a person into the gay life style also lead them all sorts of other anti-social behavior. I can be friendly to a gay but I will never trust him.

Like I said, if a Lefty deviates from the party line, he's finished. Steven Lopez will be lucky to find new work now that he committed the unpardonable crime of defending a woman loathed by the Left.

“They attack anyone who doesn’t tow the line. “

No they don't. They are cowards and bullies of the highest degree and generally more bark than bite. Prop 8 passed with a very high percentage of support from the Black community. I do not see the gay mafia protesting in south central LA or Bayview-Hunters Point because they know what will happen if they do. They feel much safer assaulting old women and those not ready to defend themselves. I am sick and tired of the whining over
Prop 8’s passing

He is getting more heat from the sodomite fundamentalists than he got from the defenders of Mumia.

News flash folks. Anyone that has strong, unshakable views on any topic is a "bigot." Don't DARE believe in absolutes or you are a "B~I~G~O~T".

Please forgive me as I move my "bigoted" behind on to another thread. Mentally deranged whiny arse sodomites don't matter much to me.

Right on!
Civil unions should be great for gays.
They can get health benefits for their "partners" that a heterosexual couple cannot get
Just saying that if your live in girlfriend works at a company with good benefits you can't hop on board
But if you are gay and your civil union boyfriend works at that same company you can take advantage of the medical etc

Gays like to be up there dramatizing for all to see. Natural born actors
They feel depressed if not the center of attention so they provoke the larger society into outrage and voting against their pet projects like gay marriage. Gay marriage being against 5,500+ years of Judeo-Christian tradition. Not that they care because they have an implanted crazy streak. Because you have to be crazy to want a ____ up your ___ . And performing this filthy act probably kills off billions of brain cells each time and/or just splinters your reasoning capability and emotions
