12.19.08 1530: Franken-Coleman recount: Board recesses for the weekend. The State Canvassing Board ended its work for today. "We're not done, we're a long ways from done," said Secretary of State Mark Ritchie. The board will convene at 9.a.m. Monday to address some previously withdrawn ballots. Unofficially now leads Coleman by 249 votes. BUT, other challenged votes will be reviewed Monday, there are about 1,600 absentee ballots to be judged, and another Coleman petition has been filed with the MN Supreme Court .

Looks like close to X-Mas eve before all of the ballots are done!

They had originally said they would stay and count until they were done.
All this will do is create the public perception that Franken has "won."

Thanks for your informative and reassuring posts, flattorney.
According to the Star Tribune site, 1325 challenged ballots have been counted by the Canvassing Board through Friday. According to the SOS site, there were something like 6500 challenged ballots total to be reviewed, so they still have over 5000 remaining left to count. Of these, as you say, about 400 are withdrawn Franken challenges, almost sure to wind up in Coleman's column. Then there is also the unresolved matter of dealing with the "improperly rejected" absentee ballots, pursuant to the state Supreme Court order.
Please feel free to correct this if warranted or to add additional comments.
