Everyone I know with Toyota trucks (made in the USA) are very, very happy with them and rave about the value and ‘toughness’.
Typical. Can Ford et al make money on 45K cars? I thought Ford’s reissue T-bird was a neat looking car but they priced it very high for a very non-innovative car. IMO they could have sold lots of those in the low 20’s but IIRC, it was priced up near the 40K range and for what?
Oh, I agree, I didn’t buy GM for the long term, I thought it would be a good short term bet (and it is as it is about $4.24 now, about 3x my purchase price)..
Ford I will hold on for the long run. Although I am not crazy about their products, financially they see to be hanging on better.
You are right though, this is the time to get in, not just with F but there are a lot of undervalued stocks out there.
I rather be a Toyota Republican than a Ford UAW Rat..
Outside of a handful of exceptions, all the Japanese people involved in the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1942 are deceased. Gone. The Japanese culture isn't bent on the destruction of the US - that mindset is reserved for Muslims, Democrats, and apparently RINOs.
The UAW today is far more destructive to this country because they have a compliant gang of rulers in Washington that will gladly carry their water.
They are parsing it a words asking for 'financing' instead of a bailout...
Ford has been closing Plants in North America for years and building all over the world.
I just counted Ford plants on Wikipedia
91 foreign plants (includes 3 in Canada) (closed 4 in Canada in last three years)
29 US plants
And Ford is the in better shape of the Big three because of closing 14 plants in the US in the last two years.
Nothing wrong with Unions but Union leaders are a problem.

Most advanced auto plant in world:
Video of Brazil Plant
This is VERY interesting .. it is a short video of a new Ford plant in Brazil. One look at this and you will be able to tell why there will probably never be another assembly plant built in the USA. It will also point out why more assembly plants will go offshore. After you watch this, you really need to decide if we can afford to throw more money away on a futile cause - because those companies are never going to be able to change enough to be successful until the UAW is willing to make some huge changes. And that seems unlikely.

Any inline is the best engine you will ever own.. Whether it be a small I-4 in a subcompact, or an I6 in a passenger car, or a big I6 in a truck.
Inline engines in my experience just run, V gives you more power per size, but not nearly as reliable over the long haul.
Shoot, next to the UK, they are one of our strongest allies.
That sounds like it.
“Ford has decided that they really dont want the strings that would be attached to the bailout.”
Yeah, I think they will market it as some kind of “gallant” gesture, which is just fine with me, but in truth they will now have the ability to produce cars that many Americans will want and they won’t have to split that market with the other two auto makers.
Oh yea, lots of stocks are getting punished that have no reason to be... another one is Manitowoc Crane Company.
They don’t have a realistic competatory threat on the planet, they own what they do and no one is coming up behind them in any serious way, yet the stock is taking a beating just because of fear.
There are a lot of long term plays out there.
I can’t believe the PR just after the GM Chrysler loan. Go to your banker and tell him this and he will look very confused.
Manitowoc Crane Company, 3.67PE, share price at $8.67, EPS 2.37, $1.1B market cap.. that is one to look into.
I think the PR part is exactly what the article here was intended to do, drive Customers away from those getting a ‘bailout’ and to Ford...
So then the stuff about the compression being too high was all wrong?
You can't change an engine's compression for $250 in parts. Replacing an oil pump would cost about $250 though.
I didn’t get into too much detail. The former mechanic at the Dodge dealer just said it would be easy to fix and they where told push it off on the customers.
I wonder if the GM dealer forced Chrysler to honor the warranty?
Thanks for your skepticism and/or for being so observant. I’d have bought into the PR hook, line, and sinker.
“Now get out there FReepers, and go buy a Ford”
Just as soon as they come up with something I want to buy. Here is a hint http://www.vospers.com/Commercial/Ford/FordRanger.aspx
