A man walking his dog in Terrell on Wednesday shot and critically wounded an armed 17-year-old robber, police said.

The incident happened at about 10:20 p.m. in Ben Gill Park in the 100 block of Lions Club Lane where, police said, a group of teen robbers surrounded the man.

According to investigators, when a boy in the group pulled out a gun, the man, a licensed concealed handgun owner, fired shots.

The teen was apparently struck in the head and was listed in critical condition at Parkland Hospital. His weapon was recovered at the scene and later determined to be stolen during a separate offense in Terrell, according to police.

Three other teen suspects fled the scene in a vehicle that was recovered in the 300 block of S. Park Street, police said.

Police identified the teen gunman and one of the other suspects, and were working to ID the two remaining boys.

The robbery victim was not injured.

Exactly - we don’t need more libs in Texas voting in more libs in Austin so they can screw up this state like the crapholes they left. Lots of guns in Texas and libs hate guns, so don’t know why they would want to move here.

Except that Joe Horn came out of his house, shot 2 unarmed guys that were running away and police were en-route. This guy was confronted by 4 armed thugs and had no place to run. The use of deadly force was justified. (Nevertheless, I'm sure there will be some protests, and the guy may face some legal ramifications.)

Thanks for the link.

I read that when you see the cops coming, place your gun on the ground with your CCW license under it and greet the cops with yours hand up - if the perp is not moving.

Did you watch the 2 video reports of the story? Matt Grubs and interview with classmate of thug that was killed?
They had the 911 call of the dog walker. I'm glad they had grief counselors on hand for the students at Terrell H.S. Poor guy must of just got "caught up with the wrong crowd."

Yes, I watched the videos. The perp was a "star" football player.

Well, armed robbery isn't high school football.

Under TX law, can the accomplices be charged with his death?

**********

I don't see that ever happening. They will be charged with aggravated robber, while the other could have been charged with armed robbery, had he lived.

Yeah, what happened to the old felony murder rule?

I'd think Texas would still have the balls to use it.

Whoa , I read it too fast and thought the dog had been hit in the head . Thank goodness the dog was unhurt .

It was a "civilian" armed citizen doing the shooting.

Therefore the dog was in no danger.

LOL

I have my wife tell the dispatcher I am the “one in his PJs carrying the 45”. BUt you are right, never give a cop a chance to ‘make a horrible mistake’.

Joe Horn’s use of force was justified also; the illegal alien criminal thugs in that case came onto Horn’s property as they departed his neighbor’s property, and they refused Horn’s order to stop.

The fact that Horn has been supported by his neighbors, by a huge chunk of the public, and by even the authorities sends a clear message to the evil criminal thugs—sometimes the good guys will actually get away with defending themselves instead of being vilified by “political correctness”!
