JUNEAU, Alaska, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin said she would refuse a $25,000 pay raise during her current term as Alaska governor.
A state commission recommended boosting the governor's pay to $150,000 from $125,000.
The five-member state Officers Compensation Commission, created by the state Legislature, also said legislators needed more money, along with the lieutenant governor and government department heads, the Anchorage Daily News reported.
If the commission pushes ahead with a pay raise, Palin will not accept the money, spokesman Bill McAllister said.
"Her view is, it's just not appropriate to accept a pay raise in the middle of the term," he told the newspaper.
Palin's term ends in 2010.
Palin makes 46 percent more than her most recent predecessor, Frank Murkowski, but is the 24th-lowest paid governor, the commission said.

Unfortunatly, I fear Palin will be a victim of the “You Won’t Get Credit for it Theory”. Her critics will be focused on how much money she’ll still be making rather than the act itself and the reasoning behind it.

You missed the boat. She never had a VP offering, book deal, or anything else when she sold the state airplane, or laid off the limo driver, or the chef. Can't understand that some people just don't believe she is the real deal!
Just because you wouldn't choose as she does, shows again, that she is an outstanding leader. No wonder the media and leftists fear her. America missed dearly by not having this woman serving them!!!!

You are absolutely correct my FRiend!
She is the real deal and she made the decisions that endeared us to her before the spotlight was on...because that is who she is.
We may have missed out this time...but all is not lost. her time will come, and the sooner the better.

As much as many of us disdain McCain, if for nothing else, let’s give him props for bringing her to the national stage.

I do. But his recent refusal to support her and defend her is pretty pathetic IMHO.

Not that there's ANY real comparison, but Governor Palin stands several stories taller as a public servant than ANY of the Kennedys, especially Caroline who has never held ANY job!!!
Of course Sarah is the real deal and the lack of coverage of the torching of her church is truly a sign of the times!!!

I think she should set aside part of it for a family trust for the children then donate the rest to a good cause
