They were very open to American ways. They considered themselves "Sunni" but the daughters didn't wear their hijabs unless they "dressed up" for something special; and the guys all listened to American music and got jobs. I even took a few of them to meet Gov. and Laura Bush when he came to town. I absolutely loved them like family. We'd discuss religion all the time. They'd probably be considered "bad" muslims. But I met a lot of them, and they were all like that.
