Obama’s biggest base are the blacks. He knows where they stand if not it has become clearer from the California vote. I don't think he's ever been for them in the public arena. The gays just followed him because he's a liberal.

I can't think of a money or vote reason to do this. He's a leftist, but he may not be as much as a leftist as he portrayed himself to be in order to get elected. In any case it's good news.
