I was recently waiting for a flight and drinking a cold beer at O'hare.
The place was pretty busy and this young soldier sat down next to me at the bar. I told the bar tender to bring him a beer on me and the kid says "Wait a minute. Republican?"
I said yes and he smiled and shook my hand and drank his beer. He said he just wasn't in the mood to have to say thanks to and drink a beer with a Democrat. He then said he would have found it surprising that a democrat would have bought a soldier a drink anyway, but he wanted to be sure.
It would have been great to see him tell a democrat to keep his beer and leave him alone. The guy sitting on the other side of him started looking real uncomfortable and pissed off after he asked if I was a Republican.
