I’m with the “Ramos and Compean first” crowd.
After that, I don’t care. On the one hand he was there to fight the Northern Alliance. When we got involved, it was too late for him to do anything but ride the wave.
On the other hand, when he was captured, he had a chance to get on the right side of it; he could have made himself useful to our guys who were trying to make sense of a fast-moving battlefield. But he didn’t, he was pretty closed-mouthed.
I’d have given him one chance. He tells me what he knows, het gets a shower, a meal, and a plane ticket home. Clams up, he gets handed over to the Northern Alliance and I forget I ever met him. He winds up buried in the desert in a shipping container or something.
He clammed up. Islam makes people crazy, I guess. I’d have let the Northern Alliance have him, and he’d never have seen a trial. In my view he’s very lucky to be alive, and not just because he survived the prison revolt.
