A 105-year-old singer whose past as a singer in Nazi Germany has dogged his reputation for decades is back in the spotlight after telling a Dutch television show Adolf Hitler was a "good guy."
The Dutch-born Johan Heesters, who now has Austrian citizenship and is still popular and performing in Germany, was asked by a Dutch journalist what he thought of Hitler.
"A good guy, that's what he was," he said on the clip shown Thursday on the current affairs show "De Wereld Draait Door" ("The World Keeps Turning").
His wife, Simone Rethel, immediately corrected him, saying that Hitler was the worst criminal in the world.
"I know, doll," Heesters responded. "But he was nice to me."

I'm with you on that. Hitler was a charasmatic man for sure. His answer to what he called "the jewish question" certainly disqualifies him from nice guy status. He wasn't alone though.

Hitler was a darling in the US press before Pearl Harbor.
I wonder how history would have treated him if he had not gone down the path of murder and wickedness.
The US press loves the socialists now even as we speak. We sure have have put more socialists in washington lately.
Just one man’s opinion but on numbers of innocents killed, Stalin has Hitler by at least 10 million.
Then if you go by years of terror perpetrated I think Stalin has him by at least 9 years.
Really I don’t believe as far as the liberals and the press are concerned murdering the Jews was that big a deal.
After all Stalin murdered far more than Hitler.
I believe that when the truth is outed it as far as the left in this country is concerned Hitler’s unforgivable crime was attacking and waging war on the Soviet Union.

Sure are a lot of Hitler threads lately. I had to check to see if this one was about Heino.
There are 4,000 professors who think that Bill Ayers, terrorist, communist, wartime traitor, is a good guy.
And it is controversial to suggest otherwise.
“Hitler was a great painter. He could paint an entire house flat in one afternoon. Two coats!”
Time admired him, not just giving him “Man of the Year” but I seem to recall a thread that had some quotes from around 1933 praising him too.
That reminds me of Lenny Bruce’s bit about how Hitler was drafted into politics.
I wonder if he would have done the same bit about how Obama was also groomed for high office and packaged with icons.
