How did we prevent Congress from granting amnesty to illegal aliens? The people resoundingly spoke out against amnesty. The Fair Tax will be transparent as the rate will be itemized on every receipt. Th people will immediately see any change in the tax rate. Another and more fundamental reason is listed in post #27.

So for example if I bought something for $100 and the fair tax was, say 10%, I’d see a bill
Fair Tax 10%: $10
?
Because when I buy something with the NY sales tax, I just see the $ amount and I never see the rate. So the rate can change at any time and most people will never know.
