Thanks for the ping. Before this is over, your timeline of Obama’s spin and the media’s dance will have to be broken into chapters. Keep up the great work!

Au contraire. Dept of Education has spent over $50 BILLION per year for more than a decade. Look how “fixed” education is. Just think how much more “fixed” it will be after they spend another $200 BILLION of our tax money in the next four years.

Public Education Ping

This list is for intellectual discussion of articles and issues related to public education (including charter schools) from the preschool to university level. Items more appropriately placed on the “Naughty Teacher” list, “Another reason to Homeschool” list, or of a general public-school-bashing nature will not be pinged. If you would like to be on or off this list, please freepmail Amelia, Gabz, Shag377, or SoftballMominVa

Chicago has about the worst school district in the country. Obama is wise to bring on board someone who can bring that kind of change to the entire country.

POST OF THE WEEK!!!

This appointment is quite interesting - kind of like watching an avalanche rushing toward your house.

I mean, Hillary as SOS is at least superficially plausible. But THIS - placing gross and open failure as the LEADER of a mission which 70% of the people perceive as critical - this advertises how important communism is going to be in the upcoming administration.

Picking the head of Chicago schools is like picking the head of DC schools.

The current head of DC schools would actually be a pretty good choice.

Well, that and the fact that Chicago politicians are known to be among the most honorable, ethical and above board people anywhere in the known Universe!

>>>Oh yes, as a citizen of the great state of Illinois, I can vouch for that fact—eh maybe in a twilite episode, but not in reality! So the education secretary is a Dem from Chicago...so much for real “change we can believe in” :(

To me, it makes Obama seem pretty stupid, if just for the fact that most of the nation right now is looking at Chicago politics and going, “Yuck, we feel like we all need a bath!”

The schools are SO good, Barry and Michelle-Omarosa did NOT send their kids to them.

Excellent point.
