Gov. Mark Sanford, South Carolina Republican, sent a letter to President Bush on Monday asking him not to use money from the $700 billion economic rescue package to help bail out automakers.
"This would be a very great mistake," Mr. Sanford said in the letter, which was e-mailed to reporters.

What's unfolding now is ultimately bigger than credit in our financial system and distressed businesses. We are placing an unhealthy and unprecedented level of debt on present taxpayers and future generations. And I believe we are at a tipping point in moving from a market-based economy to a politically-based economy, wherein one's success can be determined not by good decisions and hard work, but by the size of one's voice and connection to Washington. The real economic stimulus of our country lies in the daily work and effort of the millions you have seen across this land. These bailouts represent not only an enourmous cost that they will be left to carry, but a shattering of the rights and responsibilities that have historically been linked to achieving the American Dream.
Gov. Mark Sanford, in a 12.15.2008 letter to President George W. Bush

That sounds nice, I like Sanford, but he pissed me off when he was on Hannity and dismissed Sarah being the future of the party, in fact, he laughed, so I don’t know what to think of the guy

He may be a good Southern conservative but petty jealousy doesn't become him.

I think he didn’t dis her, if I recall he said there are lots of new faces and she could be one of the leaders. No doubt he is thinking of his own future.

It means he wants to be President and she’s competition.
That’s politics.
But he is a conservative and we have so few in leadership roles these days. Not excusing it, but it’s a minor fault. Sarah’s got hers. Jindal’s got his. Just so long as their heads are on straight in policy and their personal lives not entrenched in scandel doesn’t seem something to be worked up about.
Sarah’s my preference at this time though.

S.C. Vs. OK
S.C. has Sanford and Demint, but OK has Coburn and Inhofe.
However, -10 S.C. for Lindsey Graham.
The Okies have it.

Yeah I understand, politics is ugly. I like the fact that Sanford is not for this bailout, that to me is a HUGE plus. Who knows, maybe Sarah and Mark are friends behind the scenes, just when I saw that interview, it rubbed me the wrong way, sure he sees her as competition, I think most of the GOP other then Chambliss who has said nothing but wonderful things about her(She saved his butt in Georgia) and Michael Steele who also said wonderful things about her, I have not heard much from these young up and coming governors, so we just have to wait and see.
