BAGHDAD (AFP) An Iraqi journalist hurled his shoes and an insult at George W. Bush, without hitting him, as the US president was shaking hands with the Iraqi premier at his Baghdad office on Sunday.
As the two leaders met in Nuri al-Maliki's private office, a journalist sitting in the third row jumped up, shouting: "It is the farewell kiss, you dog," and threw his shoes one after the other towards Bush.
Maliki made a protective gesture towards the US president, who ducked and was not hit.

They're certainly doing so at Democratic Underground. Real class...
One thing Democrats, Communists, and like-minded totalitarian nuts have in common is their taking over the training of journalists in universities around the earth.
I would have thought he would have tossed his panties at him.
Ridiculous.
None of these guys (the agent on the left, or his Iraqi counterparts on the right) appear "obamized" to me, whatever the hell that means.
And I suspect the "journalist" quickly realized that this agent wasn't reaching for a pack of chewing gum under his jacket either.
Oops, meant to ping you too :)
Just read that he is an Iraqi reporter who was kidnapped last year. Sorry can’t post link - no copy/paste (wii browser)
Interesting, thanks.
I just turned on fox to see their 4pm news coverage. It started with the bones of the child in Florida, then went to a correspondent in Iraq to discuss the President’s visit. Fox managed to show the shoes being thrown 3 or 4 times during the brief segment.
“News” media cannot say the word “president” more than once during any discussion of GWB, but they can show an insult 3 times in a minute. No bias there!!!
Well you can bet the Iraqis are doing more than putting panties on the guys head about now...
“Did our media applaud and high five the Arab scumbag ?”
CNN has been playing the video almost non-stop. Giving breaks to let the “reporter” emphasize that in Islamic culture the throwing shoes at someone ARE UTTER CONTEMPT.
We’ll probably see this for the next couple of days to get everyone’s mind off of the Obama scandal.
The fox correspondent in Baghdad reports that he was exercising his ‘free speech’ according to his employer tv station, and won’t be censured. BDS rises in Iraq.
I agree.
I'm amazed at how slowly anyone moved after the first shoe was thrown.
If there was any reason for an active 2nd Ammendment, it's the reality that, even with an attack on our President ... the human mind is shocked, stopped and slow to react .... when unable to pull a gun !
An attacker has the advantage of surprize and more often than not, forethought. The police are shocked, stopped and wait for instructions.
None of those guys moved until the voice in their earpieces said, "Go, go, go"
I wish the President had just bailed off into the crowd and went to wailing on him. That would have been interesting. It probably would not be good international relations, especially in the Muslim world, and especially in Iraq; but interesting nonetheless.
Give him the Saddam treatment and feed his shoeless feet into a paper shredder.
Wait, what? He got let go without even being arrested?
Taste the freedom Bush brought you, beyotch.
Any guess on what Obama would have said?
“He disrespected ME!” - His comment about Rev. Wright.
I can really see obama saying, “Don’t you know who I am?!”
The more you see of these people - and I don’t mean the obvious physical ugliness of the whole gang (NAIR should open a franchise there - starting with the men) - but the utter lack of character - oh yeah, I know, years of oppression and blah blah blah - the more you realize that the ONLY reason we should give a Shi-ite what happens to the place is OUR OWN STRATEGIC INTEREST.
As far as providing the Iraqi people with ANYTHING? I say, NOTHING - absolutely NOTHING - beyond what HELPS OUR INTERESTS in that part of the world. PERIOD.
As I tell my Italian cousins all the time, whenever (and they don’t do it so much anymore!) they dare to criticize the US: “After bailing your sorry cowardly asses out of Mussolini’s-Hitler’s sling, all we want from you is GRATITUDE, NOT ATTITUDE!”
Same with these losers.
Hope this guy has an “accident” on the streets of Baghdad later tonight.
Oh please. The Secret Service agents selected to protect the President aren't desk jockey slugs or keyboard warriors. They don't disregard their oath because President Bush is at the end of the term.
