McCain scolds GOP for whacking Obama
Politico ^ | 2008-12-14 | Mike Allen

Posted on 12/14/2008 7:40:23 AM PST by rabscuttle385

In a surprising rebuke to the warriors who fought for him through tough times, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Sunday sided with President-elect Barack Obama and scolded the Republican National Committee for fanning the Illinois corruption scandal.

On ABC’s “This Week,” host George Stephanopoulos asked: “The chairman of the Republican National Committee, Mike Duncan, has been highly critical of the way President- elect Obama has dealt with this.

"He's had a statement every single day, saying that the Obama team should reveal all contacts they've had with Governor [Rod] Blagojevich. He says that Obama's promise of transparency to the American people is now being tested. Do you agree with that?”

McCain replied: “I think that the Obama campaign should and will give all information necessary. You know, in all due respect to the Republican National Committee and anybody — right now, I think we should try to be working constructively together, not only on an issue such as this, but on the economy stimulus package, reforms that are necessary. And so, I don't know all the details of the relationship between President-elect Obama's campaign or his people and the governor of Illinois, but I have some confidence that all the information will come out. It always does, it seems to me.”

It looks more and more like McCain just threw the elcetion.

No kidding, Dick Tracy. He knocked three people over rushing to the platform to deliver his concession speech.

"... but I have some confidence that all the information will come out. It always does, it seems to me.”

Since when? There are at least a dozen simple 'yes' or 'no' questions about Obama that have never been answered over the past 2 years.

I’m thinking we’re lucky this a-hole didn’t get elected afterall.

Man you got that right. You know what would've happened? McCain would have still continued the "reaching across the aisle" crap and totally neutered both the GOP and Palin's chance in 2012. And there's no guarantee he would have stepped down in 2012 anyway. The guy is running again for Senate in 2010. What does that tell you?

Conservatives completely got used this election. I now wish Palin would have declined to join McCain, but on the good side she now knows what to expect from the press.

I am really glad this turncoat didn’t get elected. Maybe it’s okay with you, John, that the president is a corrupt thug, but it is not okay with me.

JM can pound sand, with every word be becomes more of an ass.

You got that right. Never liked his politics before he ran and always thought he was a nut. Used to call him McNut. But I held my nose and voted for him because of Palin.

Hey John (toilet)

You're the reason we have the bastard president, Chicagobama from Crook County, Barky the Mutt.

As far as I'm concerned, the best thing you can do is shut up and vote right.

And while you're at it, try to pretend you're on the Republican team.

McCain is just saying wait until all the details (facts) come out.

Fat chance of that, coming from the guy who sealed his college records, his medical records, his birth records...

While I agree the RNC guy sounds like he's carping, McCain was characteristically self-defeating to say what he said. He could just as easily have said "Yes, Obama should reveal his involvement in this matter asap -- the American people have a right to know their confidence in the president they elected is not misplaced."

All this other crap about playing well together is vintage gratuitous McCain bullsh*t.

So, McCain has reverted back to hunting strawberries and rolling ball bearings around in his hands. It must have been hard for him to finally realize the press was only his friend if he took pot shots at his own party. Lucky for him that it was a target rich environment.

I have a great deal of respect for McCain for his service to his country, and for having the courage of his convictions, even when his convictions are unpopular, or in many cases, wrong.

However, he made the mistake of confusing that respect with agreement. I, and many others like me, busted our @sses in the 2008 campaign, not for John McCain, but against Obama, and for Sarah Palin. He never did get that.

We must fix the way the Republican party nominates its Presidential candidates to make sure that a worthless RINO such as McCain never again receives it!

The good news is that John McCain's term ends in 2010.

The bad news is that John McCain, according to the Associated Press on November 19, 2008 has set up a PAC for his fifth term!

See the link below for more information:

It is well past time for McCain to go.
