Not choosing is in itself a choice, Lurker. I suggest it might be wise to plan ahead for the possibility of a long and debilitating illness by purchasing long term care insurance. They offer that, you know? Also there is “catastrophic care” insurance that can help pay the bills. If you commit suicide no life insurance policy will pay out so you will leave your family destitute. I also suggest you consider that part of being human is suffering and embrace it instead of trying to avoid pain at all costs. My sister (a nurse) says that good palliative care helps ease the suffering of a dying patient. I watched in awe as hospice kept my mother comfortable until she drew her last breath. It was difficult to watch her die but she was surrounded with her children and grandchildren and she knew she was loved and valued until the end.

Suicide is a selfish act and it leaves survivors devastated. Some never recover and live with survivor’s guilt until their time to go. Please do right by your loved ones and think this through again, and again, and again.

I am praying for you, and for your family.

assisted suicide is a fancy name for homicide.

Agree with all your post except in #35: Pain medications aren't terribly expensive either.

I'm here to tell ya, that's is completely untrue! Not talking about a two week course of pain meds for a fractured thumb, but Rx for long term (chronic) pain management or terminal disease processes.

Trust me on this... I am one of the above.

I dont think we should stop suicide.

However I do think we should stop homicide that dresses itself up in rightousness.

Worse than $3/each Plavix? I looked up my oxycodone (don’t know strength, I don’t carry them around) and dilaudid (2 mg) and it turns out to be 30 cents and 48 cents respectively.

Yep, said to say...

The MS Contin I take runs over four dollars a pop.
