Ha, never has ‘hooking up’ meant just hanging out. It always means at the very least, heavy duty making out, usually it means a one-night stand. I’ve lived on the easy coast, west coast, and southwest. The term was always used in this fashion.

My main point was that every time the term was used, no matter where I lived, it implied having sex.
