DETROIT -- Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick went on a shopping spree during his first full day in jail, spending $40 on food, toiletries and XXXL long johns.
Records released Friday to the Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News show Kilpatrick's purchases included granola bars, barbecue potato chips, shampoo and $2 worth of Vaseline.
In late October, Kilpatrick began serving a 120-day sentence for obstruction of justice and assault. With good behavior, he could be out of jail after 100 days.
Kilpatrick was in a scandal that involved courtroom lies, sex with a top aide and incriminating text messages.
The Wayne County jail did not release the names of Kilpatrick's visitors. He reported to jail in a business suit and had 18 pairs of socks and $67.

I wondered what the inmates were complaining about at dinner. In my day, they generally used socks. But you can find weird stories in almost any prison.
I didn’t know they wrote them up. Thought they’d be taking cell phone photos by now. It’s been a while.
A black friend of mine uses it for dry skin. She calls it “ash”, funny gray looking areas on her skin where dry skin builds up. It does look flaky and gray like ashes.
And for those non-Michiganders out there who are wondering; yes, living in prison is an upgrade from living in Detroit.

As a white person that grew up amongst black people, I can attest to "ash".
White folks get it, too, but it isn't as apparent on us.
It's just dry skin.

Ash is an issue for African Americans with overly dry skin. But in prison, you’d think he’d get a topical for it from the infirmary. Vaseline...is just too ghetto. LOL
Vaseline just makes the residue stick to the skin and doesn’t offer any medical relief, a medicinal topical does.
I appreciate your lack of respect in the anonymity of the internet and I defer to your knowledge of which lubricants are bizarre and which are not.

My Lt, drew a cartoon of two electric chairs. Over one it said "Extra Crispy." Over the other "Original." The inmate and a guard and the chaplain are walking in and the guard says "Your choice."
We labeled this type of joke "correctional dementia."
