The fact that contraceptive pills can cause abortions and can cause damage to the woman are not religious tenets. What are you, an idiot?

The fact that millions of women safely use birth control of many types appears to be more than you can handle. Again, let me make it clear, if you’re a practicing Catholic don’t use it. If you’re a practicing Catholic (or other) and want to force women to follow the teachings of your church by changing laws - go away. You want the liberals to run this country for the next 1000 years? Then you just keep that anti-contraception crap up. You are scaring away many people who would otherwise find common cause with us on many other issues.

Not everyone happens to think that there is a soul, and not everyone thinks that an embryo has one. The common law of England recognized that until quickening (typically about week 20) abortion was at worst a misdemeanor. That is America’s legal heritage. Deal with it, like it or not. That history means that contraceptive pills are NEVER going to be illegal here. If you want other go to Italy (oops, abortion and contraception are legal there), or Spain (hey abortion and contraception are legal there too).

Let’s be clear as to who you are aligning yourself with. In October 2006, President Ahmadinejad of IRAN called for a scrapping of Iran’s existing birth control policies and for a baby boom to almost double the country’s population to 120 million. Go figure.
