The problem with the premise of the article is that anyone previously believed that the Jackson family had any “innocence” or credibility. The concept of Jesse Jackson Jr. trying to purchase a Senate seat surprises nobody - in fact I would be surprised if he tried to gain power any other way.
Reread it, the writer doesn’t believe it either, the whole thing is sarcasm.
