We are winning the war in Iraq. Another policy that Bush will never get credit for.

There are several things that GWB did that alienated him from many folks that originally supported him without question. But, one of the things he continues to do to himself, further alienating himself from the entire world, is that he does not provide the kind running commentary needed on the war in Iraq.
Why does he not declare a victory? Why is he not explaining this benefit? Why did he not give us the increasing progress being made across the nation?
His stubborn silence leaves the whacko left to define the war, the motives, the failures, etc. rather than the truth. Why did he not early on realize a press appearance every week explaining the progress was necessary to combat his biggest enemies, the press, hollywood, colleges? Instead, he cloisters himself away and fiddles.
Of course he did an a amazing job on the war. He just did an unbelievably bad job presenting his amazing job.
What about Britney Spears' new album? Isn't The One dreamy, and so masterful?

The Democrat media ran a two month negative ad on Sarah Palin and John McCain (mostly on Palin, because they needed to take her out, but pronto).
Extrapolating backwards, one can see that the Democrat media ran a years-long negative ad on the Iraq War. Behold, the power of advertising. There's a reason that companies pay thousands upon thousands of dollars for media advertising. It works.
Now, I'm no Bush-bot, because frankly, Bush is no conservative. However, I don't think that the Bushies had much of a chance against that sort of firepower. The firepower that I'm talking about is revealed in an analysis of the Palin coverage. They were close to the goal line, and suddenly, Palin was in their way. They facemasked, clipped, held and suckerpunched their way into the end zone, outing themselves in the process.
They're Democrats, everybody knows it, and they don't care, as long as they can keep fooling Gramps and Grams (the most active voters) until they can get the illegals legal next year.
After that, the Progressive Utopia will have arrived.

I will respectfully disagree with the board consensus on this topic. Bush is not one of the world's great speakers, but he has reported clearly, accurately, and frequently on progress in Iraq in his weekly radio addresses. Why don't we know that? Because the media have been silent on good news and on his speeches & press conferences in general, and because his comments are not interesting enough on their own or well enough delivered to divert us from Brittney Spears without media coverage.
The bright point is that after the media abandoned the last vestiges of objectivity and professionalism, at least they started losing money as they so richly deserve. It turned out, to their shock, that converting the Evening News into 50% a gossip show and 50% the propaganda branch of the Democrat party cost them a whole lot of viewers.

Some good points. However, you are effectively agreeing with the consensus. Notice you said the general public still did not know where we were in Iraq, for a multiplicity of reasons. This still remains his problem. They would have known if he stood in the garden of the White House (instead of at the radio microphone) and said, “Ladies and gentlemen, we are winning. Here’s why...”
He could have, should have, trumped the ridiculous partisans of the media. But...he didn’t. He let the fools such as Olberman, Curic, Matthews, Blitzer, et al ad infinitum run his office. He gave them the reins. He stood back politely and handed them the ownership of the Presidency of the United States. Shame on him. The “bright point” of the media losing their businesses is little comfort for the fact we lost the country.
And probably 90% of the public believes no chemical weapons were found in Iraq. Not sure? Check this link from the 2004 Duelfer report (Iraq Survey Group). Pass it on.

The media was running a shadow government. It's really that simple.
You are preaching to the choir. Few people here believe the war against Iraq did not begin with adequate justification. When it became a war in Iraq, rather than a war with Iraz (that is, against persons other than the original Iraqi government), something was lost in the communication battle. And I am not speaking of a propaganda effort that should have been waged. Why is the entire world unaware of the chemical weapons hidden in the sand (or Syria), the jets found along the runways, the mounds of dead bodies everywhere? Why has the left won their war on America? GWB. He could have taken us to victory lane...and didn’t.
Yes, but why? If he held a press conference every single day telling us the truth...eventually he would have prevailed. But, he rolled over to them. He gave the bizarre leftist communists such as Gregory, Rather, Brokaw, Jennings, etc. the win. Only the coach can decide how to play the game, and he gave it away. Mission Accomplished was his job. When it was occurring he should have understood how desparately important is was to make certain the entire world knew. But, he signed up and didn’t deliver. Now...
