Case [Blagojevich complaint] Confirms Rezko Is Talking With Prosecutors
WashPost ^ | 12-11-08 | Joe Stephens, Carrie Johnson

A footnote to the 76-page criminal complaint and affidavit charging Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) with soliciting bribes confirms what has long been rumored -- that a former longtime friend and fundraiser for President-elect Barack Obama is talking to federal prosecutors in hopes of a reduced sentence.

Antoin "Tony" Rezko's offer to provide authorities with evidence of others' wrongdoing is "not complete," and prosecutors are working to corroborate the claims he has made so far, the footnote said.

wrongdoing

I'd like to exorcise that word from the English language. It's time we began calling criminal acts what they are. If you steal, you're a thief. If you lie under oath, you are a lier. A bribe is a criminal act, not wrongdoing. Barf.

The people who are evidently “crazy” are these media pundits who expect us to take their pronouncements seriously. To anyone who’s paying attention, said pundits gave up their credibility a long time ago.

Let’s see if Fitzgerald only has the guts to prosecute unpopular political figures in the White House (elect).

Bill O’Reilly said that she did the other night. I had never heard that, but found this:

~ ~ ~

Fattened-up Combine goes into hibernation

###

Excerpt:

Patti Blagojevich, the governor’s wife and a real estate agent, has not been charged with anything either, but there is federal heat on her real estate deals, particularly those involving Rezko and Mutual Bank of Harvey boss Amrish Mahajan.

To wit: Mahajan’s wife, Anita,is awaiting trial on state felony charges, accused of bilking millions from taxpayers for phony state drug tests her company never performed.

Just before investigators raided the company’s offices, the computers magically vanished.

Mahajan’s bank funneled that loan to Rezko’s wife, Rita, so she could purchase that lot in the Kenwood neighborhood, in the strange deal that allowed Barack Obama to buy his dream house. If Patti is ever charged, expect Rod to sing like Elvis did in “Jailhouse Rock,” one of The King’s better films.

Could be. Barky just may be getting all the little aggravations of his Chicago life style out of the way for his big attack on DC. BC still to come.

I agree that Obama is being protected in all of this mess. There are a lot of people protecting Obama always. It doesn't make sense. He has been on a golden path for some time now and people seem to be very reluctant to cross him in any way. He is definitely a bookcover hiding something very sinister. However, I have also heard that Rezko is not the only one singing from his cell.

Attempted extortion is a felony. That is what they will nail Blago on, he did commit a crime. He approached people and he made an attempt to extort money from them in exchange for appointing them to a senate seat. The extortion part is where he threatened not to appoint them unless they came across with money or other favors. Russ is wrong on this point, yep he was nailed before he could commit one crime but he had already committed other felonies and this one particular incident is just the start, they have many hours of tapes with this guy. Granted, Bozo may be protected by the prosecutors but not because they moved to soon. Many other people will face charges, and who knows, maybe if Bozo doesn’t come up with what the prosecutors want they will take him down anyway(the corruption runs deep).

You are correct. I fully expect Fitzgerald to stay on as US Attorney after Obama takes office. I also fully expect Blago to walk away from this with no felony convictions. Never underestimate the power of the D that follows these politicians' names.
