Case [Blagojevich complaint] Confirms Rezko Is Talking With Prosecutors

A footnote to the 76-page criminal complaint and affidavit charging Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) with soliciting bribes confirms what has long been rumored -- that a former longtime friend and fundraiser for President-elect Barack Obama is talking to federal prosecutors in hopes of a reduced sentence.

Antoin "Tony" Rezko's offer to provide authorities with evidence of others' wrongdoing is "not complete," and prosecutors are working to corroborate the claims he has made so far, the footnote said.

  Rezko pal runs Tollway oasis eateries despite owing state $359K

  Al Chaib owes the state $359,639 in unpaid business taxes that date back five years. But that hasn't kept the longtime associate of indicted ex-gubernatorial adviser Tony Rezko from being part of an exclusive Illinois Tollway deal, despite a law that bars tax deadbeats from getting state business, a Chicago Sun-Times investigation has found.

  Chaib's firm, Morpheus LLC, owns Subway sandwich shops at all seven tollway oases. The deal includes his 23-year-old daughter, Alia, and a Schaumburg businessman, Adam A. Yala, records show.

  Selling sandwiches on state property is just one of the perks Chaib's family has secured under Gov. Blagojevich. In September 2003, the governor gave Chaib's wife a part-time job in a state agency charged with collecting more than half of her husband's tax debt -- a decision a government watchdog said "does nothing but increase suspicion of how the Blagojevich administration does business."

Reagan replaced 71 of the 93 U.S. attorneys when he assumed the White House. Clinton fired 89 of 93 including a federal attorney in Little Rock investigating Clinton's Saving & Loan activities. In 2001 Bush W. fired all but a handful who were working terror cases. But your right—firing Fitzgerald would create a big enough outrage that Obama may leave him in place.
