I bought (yes..paid money...LOL!) for Ubuntu 8, it just didn’t do the trick, my older stuff just doesn’t have the horsepower to run it right.

And plug and play wireless networking is needed for Linux to be “there’ for me.

You might try Ubuntu Linux through a router, then (i.e., through a router because of security considerations). It configured automatically after install here.

I guess me and my laptop ain't posting tonight using Linux Mint that grabbed my linksys wireless router immediately.
