Well, there was a difference there, Tony Martin shot them from behind as they were trying to flee empty-handed.

Obviously you've never been burglarized.

Personally, I'll never forget the day I came home with my five year old to have her say, "Daddy ! What happened to our house ?"

What had happened was that SCUM had gotten in and stolen anything not nailed down. When I thought of how many years of my life had been spent working to earn the money to buy those things, I knew the SCUM had literally stolen part of my life. Not to mention the irreplaceable items, like my grandfather's watch.

Ain't gonna happen again. I won't just shoot 'em while they're fleeing. If it was like Tony Martin's case, I could chase them down the street and blow them away in the road. It's perfectly legal here in Houston. And they damn well deserve it.

My Aunt and my cousins have been burgled, they came in through my 6-year old (at the time) cousin’s bedroom window. I would have absolutely no problem with a householder killing a burglar who is there in the house, large as life, posing a threat to them and their family. I have no problem with a householder using physical violence to stop the feckless little s**ts from running away with their stuff, but I absolutely draw the line (as do most people) at taking it upon yourself to summararily execute a burglar who is A) empty handed and B) is clearly and obviously out of your house and fleeing in the opposite direction to you. That is why Tony Martin rightly served some time in prison for what he did.
If what Tony Martin did is OK with you, you may as well support extending the death penalty to all crimes, or even give every policeman the right to terminate each and every suspect they happen across with extreme prejudice...
