The corollary to this whole subject is that if a driver is in the far right lane going the speed limit, or even just slower than all the traffic in the lanes to the left, don’t get behind him and ride his bumper to try to push him to speed up. He is in the correct lane. People do this all the time in Atlanta, and when I am the one in the slow lane, I wish I had a little sign pointing the tailgating driver to move left.

That is true. It’s the idiot in the left lane that needs to be blown off the road. In a figurative sense of course.

Atlanta is a unique blemish in the south. Chock full of yankees who have sucessfully escaped the northeast, they have brought their driving habits with them. I always try to get through Atlanta before 06:00 hours in order to avoid the worst traffic. If there were an actual functional bypass, I'd always take it. But 285 is even worse than just driving through the 'belly of the beast' on I-75.
