Let the record show that it was George W. Bush, the rich Texas Republican, who brought socialism to America, so don't blame it on that African American Chicago Democrat community organizer who made it into the White House. The government takeover of the banking and automobile industries not only happened on President Bush's watch, it was also the deregulatory mania of this president's family, beginning with his father, which took this country into such starkly unfamiliar territory.
What a betrayal of unfettered free market capitalism. And who would have thought that it would be the candidates backed by conservative pundits Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh who made it possible? You actually could trace the destruction of corporate capitalism to the much-ballyhooed "Reagan Revolution" of the movie actor who got his main training for the presidency as a huckster for General Electric, where he honed the message of "getting government off our backs." The revolution of unfettered corporate capitalism led to an era of unfettered corporate greed, which sowed the seeds of its own destruction.

And the author of this was cheering all along the way. Scheer is a useful idiot for the leninists who want to create the USSA.
Woodrow Wilson brought socialism to America.
So this moron says deregulation cause socialism? Can I get some of what he’s smoking?
Yes, this latest circus is giving the S-word a big growth spurt, but it couldn't have happened without Americans being first softened up to the idea over the years.

I have to admit that there’s some truth to what he says here.
But don't you dare blame the coming socialism on that socialist community organizer who is about to occupy the former White House.

All true. But the lesson to be painfully learned is that No RINOs allowed. I don’t care what the argument is that we need to keep them in the party so we can get the majority, all they do is to 1) dilute the message and 2) backstab us in the back at crucial points.
Bush, McCain, Hagel, Specter, Chafee, Graham, Powell - it is no longer a question of if they will backstab but when. It isn’t pleasant being kidney stabbed with a rusty screwdriver and having it twisted over and over again.
To SanFran Pole Smoker,
Let the record show that socialism in America got it's start with Woodrow Wilson (D) (Income Tax, Direct Election of Senators, World War I) and FDR (may he burn in hell, too many issues to list)
Republicans are not socialists and the democrats are for all intents and purposes the new Communists in America.
robert scheer, formerly of the l.a. times,
wanted the leader of no korea, kim jong 1’s
writings translated into english
because scheer thought these to be instructive for americans.
Woodrow Wilson brought socialism to America..........
indeed.....and socialism was spread by FDR and LBJ even more.........
Why would Bush and the GOP want to give cover for this socialist bill. Why would they want joint ownership?
Why do people think that letting millions of workers be suddenly laid off is a good thing? We are a compassionate people and will never allow things like letting people die in the waiting room because they don’t have insurance.
Everybody knows capitalism is the only system that works. Let’s just get through this recession without miles of soup lines for unemployed people.
Maybe recently, but for the most part, R's allowed it to happen....one small step at a time
Let’s see, Democrats inside these companies brought them down. Democrats in Congress blocked any attempts at reform and investigation for YEARS.
And there is evidence that Secretary Paulson may be a Democrat.
Looting the treasury is a sure way to bring down this nation and elections turn on the economy.
This is like saying that it was Republicans in the 1920s who ushered in Socialism in the 1930s.
And yes Bush is wrong to sign any of this.
We aren’t even allowed to call Obama a Socialist. That is a divisive word.
BTW it's funny that the SanFranCronicle acts like they dislike socialism.
I don’t think Bush actively sought it (until recently) but as LVR said, he mostly just allowed it to happen.
