Hearing McCain’s convention speech that ended with FIGHT FIGHT.... STAND UP STAND UP.... etc. sounded inspiring when I first heard it. But then as the campaign progressed and it became apparent that he would do nothing of the kind, that he would sit back and let someone like Obama slide into the WH, those same words made me physically ill when I heard them in later videos of McCain speeches. He certainly fought for us in the ‘60s, but he most certainly did NOT fight for us in this campaign. The selection of Sarah Palin was awesome, but then the McCain campaign refused to really unleash her, AND allowed her to be mis-defined and trashed without serious rebuttal.

One thing: I think he was afraid to truly expose Obama, go after him hard, etc. b/c he knew that the Mediascum would paint him as a racist for doing so. That was the neutron bomb of this campaign, that anyone prominent who really took on Obama, exposed him, etc. would have been nuked by the MSM.

I was never a McCain fan, I voted for Sarah, but after this campaign I sure hope he fades away and takes a comfortable retirement. That he has earned, but we don’t need him trying to be “party leader” pushing excessive bi-partisan b.s. with Obama and the Demagogues.

Well said.

And there’s more.

The theme of his convention was “Country First”.

But John McCain already decided that his country was NOT first when he agreed with the trendy internationalists that GITMO should be closed and that waterboarding is torture. He already put TRENDY INTERNATIONALISM FIRST.

For someone with his background, who should know better, that’s treason.

When foreign-born, foreign-financed Obama puts trendy internationalism first above “his” country, that’s understandable. He’s just doing what comes naturally to him.

But when John McCain does it, that’s treason.

John McCain not only didn’t put his country first, he sold his country down the river.

And your point about fear of being called a racist is well taken. When you are so paralyzed by fear on the battlefield that you end up shooting your own soldiers, I’m sorry, that’s treason. And that’s what John McCain did to Sarah Palin, both during and after the election campaign.

When the history of this era is written, the name “John McCain” will go down in infamy. The name “John McCain” deserves to be dragged through the slime and the mud for all time.
