U.S. District Judge Nan Nolan said "Good afternoon, governor" in greeting Blagojevich at the afternoon bond hearing. The governor was wearing sweat pants, gym shoes and an athletic shirt.
He was released on a signature bond that specifies that he'll forfeit $4,500 bond if he doesn't appear in court. Blagojevich also was ordered to relinquish his passport and his firearm owner's identification car.

Don't forget Rock River Arms and Springfield Armory. Both just a couple of hours from me and great guys to deal with. I wonder how many of The Gov’s bodyguards carried their products. Speaking of Govs, anybody got a pic of Mel Brooks in Blazing Saddles to post?

It’s all about the flight risk.
He’ll probably be found dead before he can testify.

I think it as Les Baer that picked up shop and moved right across the border into Iowa.

I am not surprised that a liberal elitist would presume to ban guns for everyone else while himself expecting to be special. Well, this is just a portent of things to come in the next four years.

A polite call at 6am-ish with time to shower and walk outside without rousing his children and $4,500 bond (did I read that right, sure I'm not missing a couple of zeros?!). Then they ask for his FOID card. If it had been you or I there would have been ninjas at 4am breaking down the door, a dead dog, and children with guns in their faces. And forget bail or a speedy way to get home the same day - more like, "See you next month, if the judge isn't too busy." Let us not delude ourselves, there really are two Americas.

Thanks, the similarity is striking. At least the intelligent expression.

And he it’s not just “hand in your card”, it’s “hand in everything listed on it”. Presumably that’s not a trivial task, especially when he, er, has other things to worry about.

He’s not going anywhere. Big bonds are needed for people who have motivation to flee, and may very well not be found if they do. To do the same, this guy would have to walk away from FAR more than what any bond could persuade him not to. A million-dollar bond would not stop him from disappearing; his bank account is presumably much bigger.

He said he was having financial difficulties, a high bail would have had a good chance at seeing him stay in jail.

Baloney. Even if his wallet is thin, someone else would float him a million bucks in a heartbeat - and for a favor.

I’m not so sure that he hasn’t wandered into the “not with a 10 foot pole” land here. He’s on tape caught red handed. Anyone ponying up bail money would be tainted and receive so much media coverage that no one would want that.

Hes also quoted in 2006 as saying that anyone who owns a gun in Chicago is a gang member and up to no good. That explains why he owns one. I see this statement as a rare display of honesty.

......Springfield Armory, et al. threatening to move their operations He wanted to increase taxes on trucking companies until they reminded him that they were a very mobile business and they would move to bordering states if he did that. He quietly abandoned those efforts. He's a democrat, through and through. Ban guns, raise taxes and steal everything in sight.

but also has listed in his personal property several semi-automatic pistols and rifles that are to be surrendered to the State Police pending adjudication of the case. Will we be able to see a list of what he has ?

He might do us all a favor and "eat" it before the trial. Thus saving the taxpayers a lot o' money. Nah, he's going to be pardoned on 1/20/09. After all, Barry Soetero can't have Blago testifying about any quid pro quo for naming Barry's choice as Senator, can he?
