Senate sources confirm for me that Mel Martinez was the famous Senator Anonymous from three weeks ago. Martinez, not wanting him name used, told the Politico I dont think we have learned much from the election in terms of what people want to see. This senator said the Republicans needed someone who could speak from the center and wanted it known that Sarah Palin is not the voice of [the Republican] party.

Most inept analogy of all time. Congratulations.
We try too, but the GOP establishment always pull the rug out from under conservatives and give money to the moderates. See what they did to Toomey and to Schundler in NJ.
“Most inept analogy of all time. Congratulations.”
Sorry and thank you. Analogy is my weakness.
And before anyone takes me to task for thinking ill of Mr. Warner — I think he’s a great guy. I still think Gov. Palin needs time and effort.
She's now been granted the former, so as to put forth the latter.
Is there actually evidence of that? In California we have been told that for at least the 20 years I've been here -- but almost every time, the Republican party just nominates someone really squishy, they lose, and then that's used as evidence that conservatives can't win. I can't think of a time that the Republican party has nominated an actual conservative in this state. I don't know, maybe they ought to give it a try once, they might be surprised.
The resultant political order coming out of this election and headed toward the next administration reminds me of my trip in 1984 when I had to rent a big Ryder truck, a towbar and a separate U-Haul trailer for all our stuff; as we went down the road, caravan-style, we made a curious sight - huge truck, vintage car leashed behind and a “Hippy-type air-brushed, flared-wheel California van” with a modern-day oxcart following behind like a whipped puppy.
With Reagan bumper stickers all around we headed east, not knowing the next time we saw such a sight, the democrats would all be in the driver’s seat and the party we carried that whole way had climbed dutifully in the back of the truck and hung over the side rails of the cart like cattle on their way to the slaughterhouse.
I’m VERY HAPPY that Mel is leaving at the end of his term. He’s a worthless RINO. He was with McLame, Kennedy, Lindsey Graham, et al on immigration/shamnesty, and I will never forgive him for that!!
The SAME RINO Mel Martinez who was elected Chairman of the Republican National Committee?
No wonder the GOP is running "moderate" cadavers like John McCain and getting their clocks cleaned by Marxist candidates.
Exactamundo.
The globalist-driven Mel Martinez's of the GOP are assassinating conservatism within the Party.
So, wouldn’t it be natural for Conservatives to create “A Conservative Party”? Screw the NRC! I will never vote again for a RINO!
Sure appears that way, doesn't it? Especially if Conservatives aren't going to get any respect or reinforcement from the RNC and State GOP Parties.
We are tired of our invisible status and the elitism of RINOs. "Screw 'em" is right.
Gordon Smith lost because of the third party candidate to his right. His strategy may have attracted a reasonable number of moderates but he lost because some conservatives bolted. Smith was the best that conservatives could hope for in Oregon. The alternative is much worse.
It was Mel Martinez?! Knock me over with a feather. At least the putz is on his way out. Hopefully, he won’t be replaced by a weasel like Jeb.
Number of States won by: Democrats: 20; Republicans: 30
Square miles of land won by: Democrats: 580,000; Republicans: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Democrats: 127 million; Republicans: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Democrats: 13.2; Republicans: 2.1
Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Republican won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens. Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in rented or government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."
Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase. That's why the ground game of getting out and selling the beliefs we hold is so important. Any forum, any where. Court the folks as you would you're significant other and have them fall in love all over again with the GOP.
Let us pray that Jeb does run and kills the Dem Party in Fla.
Good riddance to bad garbage.
Come back, Connie Mack!
Mel - trial lawyer. Endorsed by Jeb (his biggest booster) because he is Cuban.
Mel didn’t do anything to help the GOP during his six year tenure so nobody will miss him. I’d rather just see Jeb since he has actually BEEN conservative in office and we have at least some proof of his views.
First off, it’s “Kurt,” not “Curt.”
Second, Kurt Warner has one Super Bowl ring, two Super Bowl appearances, two league MVP awards, and is leading a perennially bad team to the playoffs this season. This is almost identical to Brett Favre’s resume, save that Favre has one more league MVP award.
If Sarah Palin is the political Kurt Warner, we stand a great chance in 2012.
