“You may underestimate the popularity of Obama abroad. A family member was working in African during the weeks before and after Obama’s elected. Everywhere she went the native folks chanted “O-BAM-A!” repeatedly. Obama is the darling of the planet. It would make our country and the already unpopular Bush very hated and completely undermine our credibility.”
This is simply infuriating. Is this an election or a global popularity contest? Don’t worry, with or without Obama, they’ll spit on you again soon enough. It is just pathetic if America and Americans permit their laws to undermined by the attitudes of people who will always put themselves and their countries first.
I am not worried about being spit on. I am worried about our military needing the cooperation of other countries to fight the WOT. What if we are so out of touch with the wishes of other countries that we are not allowed to use other county's air space or place a military base within their borders? That would seriously jeopardize the safety of our troops as well as civilians here in the United States. These are real considerations that even the most hardened hawks working in the Pentagon have to deal with on a daily basis. Professionals understand the reality of working with others. When you are just anonymously waxing ideological you certainly have a lot more freedom to be rigid.
