A third party is fast forming--American Independent. The Republican party is over. They don't want conservatives. (Although the Ohio voters you describe must have really gone over the edge, to vote for Zero.
We can't "change" the R party, only start over with people of our own beliefs and ideals. Take a look at AIP's site.

I like the platform of the American Independent Party. Now, would its leadership in the future be wowed by DC social acceptance or would they actually have the stones to stand up for said platform???

George C. Wallace, Jr., formed the American Independent Party in 1968; he left it in 1969. It has been around since then in decreasing notability.
