Rice: 'non-state actors' may have used Pakistan for India attacks

Pakistan must act quickly to help India prevent follow-on attacks amid evidence that Pakistani soil was used by "non-state actors," US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said here Sunday.

Speaking on US television, Rice said she stressed during her visit to Pakistan last week how important it was for Islamabad to cooperate fully and promptly with India, but denied reports of a 48-hour deadline for action.

"The important thing is that Pakistan act and that these people are brought to justice and that any information that they may have is put to use in making sure follow-on attacks don't happen," Rice told Fox television.

In interviews with both Fox News and CNN television, Rice doubted Pakistani officials had a role in the November 26 attacks in Mumbai.

"I think there is no doubt that Pakistani territory was used by probably non-state actors. I don't think that there is compelling evidence of involvement of Pakistani officials," Rice said.

"But I do think that Pakistan has a responsibility to act," she said.

.....

Rice appeared to discourage India from taking unilateral action against India when asked about such a possibility.

"I just think that ... they shouldn't do anything that will make the situation worse," she told Fox News.

She added that during her recent visits to India and Pakistan she "didn't hear a lot of bellicose talk" from the leaders.

"This is a relationship between India and Pakistan that has improved. And they're trying to build on that. But India expects Pakistan to act, and so does the United States," she said.

Both India and Pakistan are nuclear powers. The terrorists would like nothing more, than to start a nuclear war between the two countries and involve the US as well, starting WW 3.

India, Pakistan keep a lid on tensions. Political and economic realities mean there is little chance of a military standoff or full-blown war between the longtime rivals, analysts say.

Reporting from Islamabad, Pakistan, and New Delhi — Hostility between India and Pakistan is at its worst in years, but tensions stemming from last week’s terrorist attacks in Mumbai are unlikely to bloom into full-blown war between the nuclear-armed rivals — at least for now, according to analysts on both sides of the border.

But a combination of new political and economic realities, U.S. pressure and perhaps some lessons learned in the past have inhibited a rush to open conflict.

Any war would be financially devastating, especially at a time of worldwide economic downturn.

“No one can afford it,” said Abhay Matkar, a former Indian army major in Mumbai. “Both countries are not ready for war, and it will not happen.”

I don’t see a problem with this at all. India has the ability to completely annihilate Pakistan and that’s the right and just outcome. Pakistan is a Peoria state and this crap isn’t going to stop until there is nothing left but glowing glass. dont

There would be no reason for us or ant other nation to get involved... And no, I don’t give a shiite about any “good” Pakistanis, if there are any.

It almost seems as tho the actors were intent upon causing a nuclear showdown between Pak and India.

“non-state actors” would seem to be Orwell-speak for Islamofascists such as the Wahabbi and their ilk. Why not openly say who they are? Until we’re willing to do so it is difficult to see how our leaders can lead us to victory.

it is difficult to see how our leaders can lead us to victory.

Is that what their plan is, victory? For who?

“non-state actors” is the devise by which nations are let off the hook.

The 19 mostly saudis involved in 9/11 were “non-state actors.” Can’t blame saudi arabia, here, nor wahabbism. It was those pesky “non-state actors.”

Pakistan wasn’t at fault in the attack on India. No, no. It was the “non-state actors” and their nefarious plans.

That’s just more of the same, not worse, no improvement.

""I think there is no doubt that Pakistani territory was used by probably non-state actors. I don't think that there is compelling evidence of involvement of Pakistani officials," Rice said."

What proof do you have to support that statement, mz Rice? None. I thought so. In fact, actions by the Paki-Stan "government" in the past only support suspicion of the opposite, that "government officials" did indeed not only turn a blind eye to what these "actors' were doing, but participated in helping them.

The government of Paki-Stan must be made to clearly choose whose side they are on, that of a world free from terrorism based on what is claimed to be a "twisted form of Islam" or one which supports this "twisted form of Islam".

If the later, then the UK's grave mistake of creating a terrorist nation from land rightfully belonging to India must be purged of this "twisted form of Islam" and rightfully reclaimed by India as part of it's sovereign territory.

India has been subjected to 1400 years of Islamic aggression. It is time for the world to put an end to this never ending expansionism of Islam, which has left a trail of blood and trenches filled with mutilated skeletons from the times when it left it's region of origion, after it's creator declared a never ending war on all mankind that would last thoughout the ages until it either conquored the entire world for it's rock god NAMED "Allah", or until the last day.

"Allah" be damned, and may the rock god's evil pedophile and mass murdering thief of a self appointed profit burn in hell forevermore, along with this cults followers.

So true. Don't you miss the old Condi Rice, the one we used to know and love, the take-no-prisoners Condi Rice? Apparently the State Department can ruin anyone. It certainly has done a number on Rice. Nothing but State Department Doublespeak from her these days.

" Why not openly say who they are?"

Because they are scared they will "offend" somebody.

It is pathetic that we've become so PC that we are too afraid to single out and identify our enemies, and instead allow them to freely invade us and go about freely destroying us from within, even infiltrating our government, passing laws to make it easier for them to do so, as well as destroying our own cultural identity and replacing it with their own.

"Non-state actors"?

*smirk*

Whatever happened to their nearly universal description in our fiercely descriptive and accurate media as "militants"?

Is Rice trying to blur the lines of who the real enemy is here? /s/
