I have ground coffee packed in vacuum packed metal containers, no plastic. The chocolate is regular Hershey's chocolate powder stored in an old refigerator (about 34-36 degrees) out in the shed.
>>”There are a lot of mormons in my neck of the woods. Theyll feed me just fine.”<<
They won’t feed you if you show up at their door like Appy says “with a dozen of his buddies, well armed” to take what they want. You will be met with fierce resistance.
Did you read all the thread? Do so and then say you’re still with Appy.
THE WAY THE MEDIA HANDLED the duck tape suggestion made a mockery of a very serious situation."
My bad.
I’m not trying to prepare for the end of the world but for emergencies. There is not much reason for me to stand in food lines and take groceries from others that need it. If you are hungry just ask. If I can I’ll try to “carefully” feed you because I don’t believe we are expected to stop caring for our neighbor. If the worst should happen though...many of us won’t be around..but will leave groceries for those left behind.
How long is the can coffee good for?
Let’s put it this way. Your little cul-de-sac is the Netherlands and the Nazis are coming. Some guy is going to form a big gang and give you a decision: join it or die. Militarily, he’s going to have the Special Forces guys and you are going to have the clerks. He’s going to hit your cul-de-sac with massive firepower and simply overwhelm you. That’s why all these survival stories melt into silliness. They don’t deal with the realities of the situation.
Meanwhile, I’m up here in Switzerland. Surrounded by mountains and hunters, camping in hollows and hillsides. There’s nothing up here worth dying for. We can hunt deer until doomsday up here. Everytime they come to look for us, we aren’t there.
All the guns in the world ain’t gonna help you if you are sitting on a pile of stuff that other people want. You need the law. Without the law, you cul-de-sac warriors are fair game for the big dogs. But don’t worry, I won’t take your stuff. That wouldn’t be right.
You’ll give it to me.
.....but all he said to the rest of us is when we see it coming down, dont even go into your house to pick up your suitcase; just run for the hills.
I disagree. I believe the Lord expects us to take care of ourselves and others with his help and guidance. Turning tail and running in the face of adversity is not my concept of trusting in the Lord. Being prepared for what He places before me is how I show my trust and belief in Him and that He will take care of me. Placing myself and my family in danger is NOT doing His wish.
As for the folks in the other article, I do not see what happened there in the same manner as you did in regard to what He is telling anyone.
When you hightail it out of whatever situation you chose to run for without any preparation, I hope you run into someone like me who will be willing to share as He has asked us to do.
Click on that site linked in post #118, look to the left side, then click on oral antibotics. I've ordered (and taken) most of those, Amocicillin, ampicillin and doxycline most often though.
I keep some on hand all the time in my refigerator.
Now, if you want something like Zithromax without a prescription, I'll have to send you to another (more expensive) site.
They will get you too, sooner or later
Maybe we should make midnight runs into the hills and take the guys stashes, huh? :’)
I don’t think so. Not while people are sitting on treasure. Why chase after me to get a days worth of forage when they can hit a stockpile of goodies? Have you heard what some of these guys are collecting? Gold, guns, food, liquor, tobacco, coffee, etc. Why come after me? Face it, all that sh*t draws flies. If I do have any food, I’m not sitting on it. It’s too heavy to carry.
I don't know. I would expect years (minus temp changes) as long as it remains under vacuum.
I'd like some knowledgeabe input myself.
Bump
I have a big can that is several years old. There is no expiration date. I bought it for my husband but we have not opened it.
It just sounded funny to sneak up and rob the robber and take his weapons and maybe his clothes too:’)
Wheat, properly stored, will last upwards of 10 years. I've stored it in plastic 5-gallon buckets with a mylar liner.
Canned meat lasts several years if you keep it in a cool dry place.
Honey will last practically forever.
Best thing to do is buy familiar foods, date the containers, use the oldest stuff first and keep replacing what you've used.
Great idea!!!!!
