Yes, Cao will lose in 2010 no matter how well he may perform. Cao will be like the one-termer in Chicago who retired the once invincible Rostenkowski in 1994. As Walter Judd once wrote “tyrants seem invincible until the last five minutes, and then they fall apart.”

Cao was able to win in a low turnout runoff.

Obama voters are still in crack pipe party mode.

Conservatives are chomping at the bit to rid the congress of Rats ala 1994.

N.O. East has a strong Vietnamese population that no doubt turned out strongly for Cao.

I still remember watching the 1994 returns and how satisfying it was to cross out Dem districts off of my USA Today red/blue map. Will be interesting to see if we can nationalize the 2010 elections as in 1994. Sadly, we lack a strong personality in Congress this cycle. Hope someone emerges to fill Newt's role.
