Sentimental New York Democrats were rooting for Governor Paterson to appoint Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to replace Hillary Clinton in the U.S. Senate seat his father once held. But Kennedys not interested. It was a heart-wrenching decision, and it occupied me throughout Thanksgiving with my family, with Teddy, he says. Its not a good time for me to move to Washington, because I have a large and young family. Theyre all in school. Thats expensivethough not as pricey as holding on to the seat. Against formidable opponents, most likely Peter King and possibly Rudy Giuliani, to defend the seat, Im assuming its going to cost $30 million, he says. That means $60 million in four years. Instead, Im urging my cousin Caroline to take it, because I think she would be fantastic, he says. I sent her a note; I havent heard back from her. Shell be a huge force in the Senate. Any other ideas? Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand, he suggests. What about his ex-brother-in-law, Andrew Cuomo? I would leave those considerations to Governor Paterson, Kennedy says.
The GOP should let Tom Golisano have the GOP nomination. He could beat her.
As for Jackie Kennedy, she spearheaded the drive to save Grand Central Terminal, and won. I will be eternally grateful and indebted to her, and hold her memory in reverent esteem, for all her efforts in this regard.
There is voluminous proof that there is no need for either experience or brain power to occupy a seat in the Senate. Booby Casey, my very own Senator from PA, is testament to that. Name brand like Kennedy, Casey, etc. is much more important than anything of substance.
Since when is being a Senator a real job?
Unbelieveable, he doesn't actually believe that Gov. Patterson could decide upon anyone else? He speaks as though it's his for the having if he wants it, and if he doesn't want it then it's there for Caroline, and if she doesn't want it then the Gov. can choose Andrew Cuomo or someone else?!!
Of course, it could be that he already got that word from the Gov., but otherwise it sure does seem presumptuous, even for a Kennedy.
Maybe he’s sufficiently self-aware to know just how stooopid he really is. Every time I’ve had to listen to RFK, Jr. on tv I think people should have to bang their foreheads against the wall about 200 times before they can be allowed to listen to him. Maybe once the brain is sufficiently damaged it is possible to take him seriously, but most of the time it’s just painful to hear him speak about his fanatical environmental b.s.
Well it is rather nice that we are spared from having that useless idiot in Washington.
“Since when is being a Senator a real job?”
I was being charitable.
