To bad They never had an Emperor Gore around .He could have mandated production of low emission horses
LOL
Right. Not Germans or Moslems or anything. Climate change.
Global warming?
How convenient that it just happens now that these geniuses have found the "real" reason, that just happens to coincide with a politically correct hysteria about climate change. These "geologists" are looking for grant money from a source that's out of their normal realm - "climate change" grants. These people are either G-d d@mn fools or ruthless charlatans to suppose that they have suddenly found the "real" reason Rome fell, after two millenia of historians investigating and writing about it.
How about never having learned to fight on horseback??
Translation: I don't know, but I want some free publicity.
I could just as easily say the lack of fresh slave girls demoralized the Roman army which contributed to bad performance.
This story is bull flatulence from Madistan where common sense is forbidden by fiat.
We all know that climate change only happens when evil entrepreneurs try to make a profit and have free markets. It takes the collective to direct us in the ways of the Goregons and Bommabots.
Where are the revolutionaries when we need them?
Well, at least the Romans fixed it by getting rid of all those cars.
Apparently the same with the Anasazi in the NA SW. No food is a problem.
Back then grapes for wine were grown in Northern England.
Geologists say a discovery in a cave near Jerusalem suggests climate change may have caused the fall of the Roman and Byzantine Empires .... increasingly dry weather from A.D. 100 to A.D. 700 that coincided with the fall of both Roman and Byzantine rule in the region, the University of Wisconsin-Madison said Friday.Complete and utter nonsense. And it seems that these Geologists never had a History Class. (or passed one)
In 100 AD the 'Romans' were kicking butt wherever they went and the Byzantine Empire (Eastern Roman Empire) established in 395 AD lasted until 1453 AD.
Not that either didn't have problems with 'barbarians' or the Muslim hordes, but to say Globular Warming had any effect is moonbat cow poopy.
“The report will be published in an upcoming issue of the journal Quaternary Research.”
....of course!...if you want to get published...if you want to get tenure....if you want to be promoted in the department...if you want to get a grant....ect ect....you must get on board the global warming express....it’s that simple.
I would be more inclined to attribute dry weather to colder climate. I would be more interested in knowing the relationship to outbreaks of plague and climate shifts. To me, we are concentrating on the wrong problem. Back in the 90s there were outbreaks of Hanta virus in the Southwest. But, I suppose, eradicating a virus may be stepping on someone’s sacred cow.
This article is nothing more then propaganda, pure BS.
How many cars were in Rome at that time?
Why would anyone think it necessary to determine climate change from 100 to 700 AD by “geochemical analysis of a stalagmite from Soreq Cave.” The Romans were the world’s most advanced civilization in those years. They knew how to write and did lots of it. They had many scientists advanced from their time. These people would not have observed and recorded their observations of climate change that was supposedly bringing down their empire?
The Rhine froze and let the Barbarians in.
I thought Rome fell because of Germans...
