I think Iraq pretty well qualifies. The Brits in Malaysia and N. Ireland and the Filipinos, for that matter. Even the Euros beat the Red Brigades. Massive terrorism was destroyed in numerous S. American countries and is presently on its last legs in Colombia.
This notion that terrorism cannot be beaten is just not proven by the facts. That said, putting NATO in is perhaps the most idiotic idea for dealing with the ME ever presented. It presumes that all the two sides need is to be separated. In fact, one side is determined to destroy the other, which only wants to be left alone.
Terrorism would promptly be turned on the NATO "ocupiers," quite possibly in their home countries as well as in Palestine.
But remember the IDF is the “gold standard” when it comes to how terrorism is to be fought. The other forces learned so much from them. Even now the IDF is training the Indian army in fighting against terror in light of the Mumbai attacks.
