From bondage to spiritual faith; (Pilgrims, Original Colonies, Boston Tea Party)
From spiritual faith to great courage; (Declaration of Independence, Revolutionary war)
From courage to liberty; (The Constitution of the United States, Founding Fathers, Civil War)
From liberty to abundance; (Up through the 1950s)
From abundance to complacency; (The 60s through the 80s)
From complacency to apathy; (I think we are here right now - who seems to care about the Constitution anymore?)
From apathy to dependence; (This is where the new administration will take us)
From dependence back into bondage. (How soon? To whom?)

Does this seem accurate?

Seems to me that if your only argument is “WE’RE DIFFERENT,” we’ve already lost. We are not different. Human nature is ALWAYS the same.

"All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth....
could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years.

At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected?
I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad.
If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher.
As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide."

-- Abraham Lincoln

The idea of our Republic’s founding was that the representatives would be wise enough to prevent that. They were unsure, but it was the best they could do. We are on the edge.

In case it all goes bad, there is always the second amendment ...
