Technically neither did Charlie Manson. You don't have to actually do the killing, just helping someone get the materials and knowing what they are going to do with them makes you part of a conspiracy. And thusly just as culpable.

Technically neither did Charlie Manson.

In the book by the Manson prosecutor Charles Bugliosi, he recounts that Manson did in fact confess to the murder of one of his followers whom he claimed to have beheaded. Manson and two others were later convicted of this murder.
