And I think that Franken's shyster is only making this claim in order to give the Senate cover if they should decide to take this election away from the voters.
I finally got it, and it took the bailout to make me see it: Neither party cares any more about what the voters want than they have to to reassure their reelection. What FDR did was give us a political class, some of whose members are elected but the bulk of whom are hired, which is set against the people.
And what the members of that class don't get is that if they persist, there will be blood.
It's confusing, though. A couple of days ago, this Elias character says that they're through contesting the challenges. Now it appears that they (franken) are presuming them to be valid. Minnesota's regulations concerning ballots, qualifications,etc. are clear and unequivocal. To have the senate butt in and override them in order to install their own pup would appear to be pretty dangerous doings.
