Why not just say no at the appropriate time and leave it at a personal level instead of wearing something publicly that one knows will cause controversy?
Okay, why should people that get married wear a wedding ring? Just tell people your married if they ask.
Why wear a Cross if you are a Christian. Why wear a Star of David of you are a Jew? And on and on.....
