Hey.

A british article about the party leader of the party I vote for over here. Not often you see that. We are currently running neck and neck with labour in Norway to be the largest party. Elections are next year. The hope is that finally we can take over the government. It feels increasingly like our nation's future is depending on it.

Have a nice weekend all.

Cheers.

First of all, you see women now, even with Norwegian citizenship, who don't know anything about their rights in a free modern country.

The article indirectly points out that Muslims are not integrating into Norwegian society. That's not their goal. Muslim want to create sub-communities that, eventually, they can claim don't need to abide by local laws. This is exactly what happened in England when they ruled that an enclave in London can enforce Sharia Law. Huge mistake. The Danes have it right: No more Muslims allowed into the country. We should do the same.

I think the mistake has been that we have not been very clear as to what our demands are. We open up our country, they are welcome to come, especially if they are in need, fleeing from another country, but coming to Norway, or coming to Britain, has to mean full integration.

You need to learn the language, you need to go to school, you need to get a job, you need to be able to support yourself and your family, you cannot be allowed to live on welfare for too long. That's what's happening in Norway. There is a very large number of immigrants living on welfare and they have been for a very, very long time. That is not helping people. And I believe also that letting that happen is dangerous because it means they end up outside society. They end up without education, without friends and without money.

They often tend to commit crimes and end up in prison, where they can get the wrong ideas. So the best thing for us to do is to be extremely strong on integration, and be very clear about that before people come to Norway. That is our demand. If you're happy to come, you are welcome, but you have to follow certain ground-rules. And we shall not give into demands from certain Muslim societies to accept Sharia. It is not compatible with the standards of the Western world. We have one set of rules, we have laws, and you cannot have a different set of laws for a certain group of people.

For clearly stating such common sense about immigration, Siv Jensen would be called racist, xenophobic and a host of far more vile names were she an American politician.

She actually wants to copy Denmarks immigration approach.

I think she is attempting so sound a bit more moderate to this British journalist.

She sounds a bit wishy washy on the muslim immigration issue in this interview, also on the anti-semitism and anti-americanism.

They obviously both are major problematic issues.

BTW: She visited the republican convention this fall.

Unlike our “conservatives” who atteneded the Obama party in Denver.

I am ashamed I ever voted for them.

The people who support this party here in Norway are referred to as:

Freppers

No kidding :-)

Don't feel too bad. I worked as an economic adviser for Lugar when he first ran for the Senate back in the 70’s. Today, I don't even recognize who he is. He's a pure RINO and I plan on working to have him removed during the next set of primaries.

Good luck to you and your fellow Freppers in next year’s elections. The world needs more common sense.

I doubt she could match his intellect, or his arrogance for that matter :-)

However, she is an accomplished politician who has managed to soften the “right wing” image of our party, hence making it more acceptable to the larger electorate.

She might very well become Norway’s next prime minister in a years time.

I have a lot of Norwegian blood— name’s Pedersen.

Always wanted to visit the homeland.

Well, she is called all that here in Norway as well.

Even internationally, newspapers such as the Guardian have compared her party to Le Pen et. al.

Since it is the only major party in Norway that takes the islamic immigration threat seriously, they attract sometimes extreme people.

I think it was back in 2004 where local representatives suggested outlawing islam

If I remember correctly, there were even a couple of threads on it here at freerepublic.

So, she and her party have that much popularity? That’s encouraging. Is immigration one of your main issues there? I read the online Aftenposten once in awhile. How is she and her party on other social issues?

But what I see now is that socialists and social democrats throughout Europe and even in the United States, are getting some renewed energy defending their ideology, claiming that the reason for this financial scandal has to do with liberalism or market failure or capitalism, which is not true at all. It has to do with mistakes made actually by [former US President] Bill Clinton, and it has to do not with the lack of regulation but with the wrong regulation, with forcing financial institutions to lend money to people without the capacity to pay it back. I think people need to be reminded of that.

Too bad the Republicans over here didn't shout that from one coast to the other. Instead they just look for ways to add zeroes to the end of the money and go Zimbabwe on the economy.

Common sense?

Isn’t it tragic what is happening to the world.

As Orwell said:

“We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men.”
