The sign was not a statement of religion but an attack on religion. This may have already been stated.

So Jesus said to him, Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.

“When people ask us, ‘Why are you hateful? Why are you putting up something critical of people’s holidays? — we respond that we kind of feel that the Christian message is the hate message,” he said. “On that Nativity scene, there is this threat of internal violence if we don’t submit to that master. Hate speech goes both ways.”
What could possibly be violent and hateful about a baby in a manger who never hurt anyone, loves everyone, and wanted to save all the unbelievers from their own sins?
Are these guys really that ignorant of the Bible? This is basic knowledge here, nothing nuanced.

I hope it was replaced with a sign that says: “If you believe in nothing, you’ll fall for anything.”

What these folks, in their puffed-up, wiser-than-thou state fail to see is that atheism is a faith-based worldview AKA religion. Their blind spot is in their failure to identify its deity, Man. It is a lying religion in that sense - given than Man is God, however, and therefore the arbiter of all truth, I suppose there is no such thing as a "lie" under that worldview. Creeds amongst their denominations include Humanist Manifesto and Humanist Manifesto II.

These creeps are so insignificant. QUIT POSTING ANYTHING ABOUT THEM OR REGARDING THEM EVEN IN THE DIMMEST OF LIGHT. They are nothing, represent nothing. Their signs are nothing but rubbish for the rubbish bin, as are they.

it’s survival of the fittest and the atheist sign wasn’t ‘fit’ enough to survive.

They probably took their own sign. You know put it there for a few seconds; then took it back.

The incident will not stifle the group's message, Gaylor said, adding that a temporary sign with the same message would be placed in the building's Rotunda. Gaylor said a note would be attached saying, "Thou shalt not steal." I thought they were opposed to posting the Ten Commandments in public places. Separation of church and state and all.
How ironic that they become so morally outraged over theft.
