"I didn't serve there, so I haven't any direct knowledge"

I did and can absolutely state that the conduct of the American troops there was above reproach. I NEVER witnessed any deliberate acts of violence against civilians by American forces, but the same cannot be said about the NVA and the Viet Cong. Often it was difficult to determine the difference between a civilian and an "insurgent" as they are now called as a result took unnecessary casualties.

It is about time that a book was written about the thousands of unnecessary and innocent American casualties who died as a direct result of the American left and MSM giving comfort, aid, and encouragement to an otherwise defeated enemy!

Isn't it amazing that the very existance of reports and investigations is used as both evidence of atrocities, and a cover up, since not every charge bore fruit. Nixon says keep us off the front page, everything is investigated, and that's worthy of condemnation.

My guess this book doesn't attract much attention, but I could be wrong. She should have done it on Iraq.

“It is about time that a book was written...”

It’s time somebody wrote about all the good and selfless things our guys did over there. As an example, and I know there are thousands more, my outfit took on the project of helping an old French priest rebuilt a small school he ran that had been badly damaged by the communists. On those rare days when we had time off, small groups of us would drive a truck out there and do what we could. We always knew the danger of this sort of thing and of course we were armed but I don’t recall any trouble. It was just something worthwhile we could do to make life a little better for people who didn’t ask much more that to have their bowl of rice and a piece of fish, and to be left the hell alone. I’ve found that’s the way most people are, regardless of where they live or what sort of government they have. That includes most of us Americans, too, don’t you think?
