I watched Miami turn especially crooked—not so much after Castro came to power—but when officials who spoke Spanish facilitated the importation of cocaine from Spanish-speaking countries. Many of those officials had Miami streets named after them, were indicted, then the streets were renamed after another crook who was indicted, etc.
Our government was intended for those of a stronger moral fiber than those that have arrived through other exigencies.
All you say is true. I was saddened when last in Miami (what used to be a truly great metropolitan area). Some of the once pristine neighborhoods now look like slums and other parts resemble a trashy Mexican Los Vegas, without the “glamour" of the underworld strip.
