So, you figure his mother traveled back in time to plant a birth announcement in an Hawaii newspaper?

It is not only possible but very common for grandparents to notify newspapers of births. Also if you look at the date of the newspapers the birth announcements (yes, it was in two papers) appeared 4 and 9 days after the birth. How many days does it take to fly from Kenya to Hawaii.

Neither birth announcement listed the hospital or place of birth. It is also common for hospitals to notify newspapers of births, and if so almost always the hospital where the birth took place is included in the announcement.
