Check the posting history and you’ll see that it’s a lost cause. The guy is a RINO at best.
Personally, I disagree with many here on the issue of gays, but you’re absolutely right that the correctness of being on “the same side” on any particular issue should have little to do with who is backing it. For example, if Stalin had pushed an international law that prohibited government discrimination based on race, then those in other countries who also supported such laws would be on the same “side” as him in terms of that law and the international battle over it, but not in other senses. Stalin would still be just as evil, but that doesn’t change the right/wrong aspect of a specific proposal.
That is, technically, his whole job.
The MSM is in continual surprise that the Pope has Catholic beliefs.
Not too surprising for a group that insists on using an exit as an entrance.
His (God's) view on murder, robbery, and 8 other sins is also very rigid, do the UN weenies want to make those crimes into "rights" along with sodomy?
No need for an answer, I already know what the Euroweenies and Time's writers and editors believe about Judeo-Christian morality. They hate it precisely because it is rigid, and there is no right or wrong in their atheistic view, only shades of grey.
That’s so funny that you mention guitar music. We went to a wedding, and the “band” (I can’t think of a better term) consisted of a couple of guitar players, tambourines, and a flute. About half way through the ceremony, my husband leaned over and whispered, “Are you sure we didn’t accidentally wander into a folk music festival?” Oh, they were awful.
Ditto that. A stopped clock is right twice a day.
“God’s Rottweiler, the Panzercardinal
They forgot one that’s a little newer: the German Shepherd, Benedictus Magnus!”
Being of full German descent myself, I’m happy to finally be able to be proud of my heritage through our Papa.
Interesting and thoroughly biased choice of words. The Pope has a "rigid view" and plays the part of Scrooge. I would have said that the Pope read the Bible, understood what God said, and believes God's word. Why would a man of God be flexible on whether members of the faith he leads should follow God's word?
Are you saying the homosexual lobby is anti-semantic?
yes
My wife and I left our protestant (UCC) church many years ago when we got fed up with the (liberal) politics. And that was before we even got deeply interested in conservatism. I’d consider a traditionally rooted Catholic church if I could fine one in midcoast Maine. Haven’t done too much exploring yet but one parish’s website stated a dedication to “peace and justice.” Aaargghhh.
Well, it’s December and that means Dec. 25, or Christmas.
That means for the media it is the silly season and you get absurd comments and quotes like the one’s posters have cited.
The Pope is defending the Catholic faith, and to the blinded media that is somehow, unbelievable and reportable, lol. They really are funny.
Don’t let them get you angry, just laugh at them. For the Pople to defend his faith in the Age of Camelot II is heretical to them.
“Are you saying the homosexual lobby is anti-semantic?”
LOL!
**the beauty and value of Church doctrine is that it IS rigid.**
I, too, am thankful for this. No wishy washy with Pope Benedict. May God bless him abundantly.
We welcome you.
Call a nearby church and ask about the RCIA classes — Rite Christian Intiation of Adults.
Are you a Catholic? Would you like to be on the Catholic Ping List?
I do the Daily Readings, prayer requests, Saint of the Day, seasonal things and apologetics/ catechetics/prayer.
There are two Catholic ping lists. NYer usually posts news stories. Please contact her if you want to be on that list also.
am I both lists
I stopped subscribing to Time long ago. So it is impossible for me to cancel my subscription. All I can do is send back the solicitations I get from them with a “no, thank you” on the cards that say that postage will be paid by Time.
I am convert of 3 years, having come to Catholicism after having been a Methodist, then a Presbyterian, and then a non-denominational church member.
My suggestion to you would be to find a church where the Latin mass is said for one mass. That church will be traditional, and you can sign up for RCIA at that church.
I have never regretted my conversion. My husband followed me into the church a year after I became a Catholic. Best decision we ever made.
In addition to my suggestion about finding a church, watch some programs on EWTN (the Catholic cable channel), listen to some talk shows on Catholic radio, find some traditional Catholic web sites on line.
The Catholic Church is disciplined, consistent, and holds the Truth for those who are seeking. God bless you in your search.
