Thank you, told you. Technicality? Have they forgotten our Constitution? It's the glue that holds US together when times are tough.

if Obama were denied the presidency on a technicality.

Ping.

The majority of Americans don’t give a damn about the Constitution. Pretty much every lawyer in America has to learn to ignore it to graduate from Law School. I’ve had many conversations with many lawyers and they, without exception, have the most twisted and bizarre interpretations, all based on precidents - and almost no ability to read the plain document as it is written.

Then, consider, that almost all of our legislators are lawyers and you can see how they are able to pass laws that are unconstitutional.

What percent of what FedGov does is unconstitutional? Isn’t there a “no standing armies” clause in there?? How many Freepers want to see that one enforced? The older generation (pre-WW2 up to Goldwater) of Conservatives made clear arguments about the Constitution, and the illegality of Social Security, Medicare, etc.

The modern GOP, most Conservatives, and most conservative leaders (as in: McCain, Romney, Guilliani and Huckabee) would laugh at you if you said we needed to end foreign aid, shut down Social Security and pass an amendmnet to allow a standing army.

If you ran for office suggesting these things you would be called a crank, be mercilessly pillored by the so-called conservative press (Medved, Hewitt, et.al) and be lucky to get 5% of the vote.

““It’s just a XXX-XXXXXX piece of paper!”, is what Bush supposedly said about it. True? Can’t say, but they all act that way, so it’s easy to believe.
